This 100% cotton t-shirt features a lovingly-crafted design representing the first collaboration between Indigenous Box and Jonathon JCAT Cardinal and his brand Art Inspired.
On the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, September 30th, we wear our orange shirts to stand in remembrance, and ask Canadians to honour the truth.
The orange shirt has grown to represent both the acknowledgement of the past and the hope for the future. It gives us a day to reflect and remember the many children and young people who died in Canadian residential schools and those that survived who have had to carry the weight of trauma and abuse.
On this day we acknowledge this untaught Canadian history in the spirit of healing as we work towards reconciliation. It is the start of a conversation about forced assimilation and the attempts at cultural genocide on Indigenous peoples of this land.
