"Tân’si nitôtem’tik. Lisa nit’sihkâson, amiskwahci’waskihkan ekwa Lac La Biche ohci niya.
Hello, my friends. My name is Lisa, I am from Edmonton and Lac La Biche.
It is important to me that I start learning, and start to feel comfortable introducing myself in nêhiyawêwin (cree), nicâpân & kôhkom's first language.
I am a Métis woman strong in my metis roots and also the firekeeper of my home, which is a gift that I truly am blessed to be gifted. I'm married to a strong nêhiyawêw man, and we have two amazing sons who are members of Mistawasis Nehiyawak.
I started beading in 2013 after it was lost in my family for a couple of generations. To me, beads are a self-expression of my culture, which I never want to be lost again in my family. Beading is a beautiful ceremony and one I intend to honour. I'm a self-taught beader, and this is my journey. I am glad you have come along with me.
Kinanâskomitin - Thank you"
