"We Harvesters have always had an harmonious relationship with the land in north west Saskatchewan. Our ancestors inhabit the very soil and water where the wild rice grows. We are connected.

Harvesting green wild rice is difficult work. We spend our summer monitoring the wild rice in remote streams and bays. It’s a great adventure that demands our physical strength, our knowledge of technology, equipment, water levels, climate, weather patterns, nature.

Our parents and grandparents have taught us to be respectful and modest with the land. We believe it is our responsibility to care for the land, for it is our children and communities who inherit it."
